DETECTIVES investigating the Royston murder this morning revealed that a man had been seen attacking a woman near a garage in the village.
The incident at the Spooner's Garage site, Little Westfield Road, Royston, was reported at 1pm yesterday.
Witnesses saw a white man with dark hair attacking a woman before he drove off in a dark car. Detectives are still trying to trace him.
When paramedics arrived the woman was already dead.
Police were this morning were still investigating the scene and waiting to trace the victim's family so she could be formally identified. It is hoped a post-mortem can be done today.
