BLANCHE Evelyn Greetham woke up on her 102nd birthday to her usual breakfast of cereal or toast and a cup of tea - with a dash of whisky.

Friends and family threw a party to celebrate the milestone at the Royal Court nursing home, Hoyland on Monday.

The great-grandmother-of-six was never a drinker in her day but has enjoyed ‘a tot in her tea’ for years, according to son Gerry, 74.

He said: “She likes a drop of Bells in her tea with her breakfast at about 8am. She's been doing it for years. That’s what keeps her going we think.

“She's never enjoyed the best of health. She has always been known as a creaking gate.”
