A PRETTY Holgate school pupil has been found dead by her mother in her bedroom.

Amelia Pilkington's mum, Beverley, made the tragic discovery on Sunday morning.

She said: "I went in to see what arrangements we were going to make for that day and see what she wanted to do. I just found her on the floor wrapped in her duvet. It was just devastating."

On Saturday Amelia, 16, of Kingwell Road, Worsbrough, was fine and had been shopping at Meadowhall. Dad Terry, an art dealer, said: "She loved fashion and shopping and going to gigs. She loved her music.

"She is a big loss, we miss her so much because she made everybody laugh. She was such a lovely good-natured girl, we can't get our heads around it."

Amelia's devastated family, including sister, Rebecca, 18, and brother, Alexander, 13, will remember her as a bright girl who loved life and had a wicked sense of humour.

Rebecca said: "We used to do everything together, she would always make you laugh at the most inappropriate moments."

Beverley added: "She had a really dry sense of humour, no matter where you were, she always made you laugh."

Amelia dreamed of being a journalist or graphic designer. She was due to sit GCSEs this summer and had chosen which subjects she was to study at college.

She was keen on dancing and sports and played rounders for Holgate and was part of the school cheer-leading team.

A special service will be held at school to coincide with her funeral at St Thomas's church, Worsbrough, at 11am on Tuesday, followed by a cremation at Ardsley at noon.
