SOME people don't like school dinners but Marjorie Jones loves 'em - so much so she has been serving them for 34 years.

This week she retired from Wath Central Primary, which two years ago replaced Wath Park Junior and Infants.

Marjorie, 65, was presented with a gold chain from the rest of the staff and a gold bracelet from her fellow dinner ladies.

She says she has loved every minute of the job but says school meals are very different today.

When she started the food was much more traditional, such as roast lamb and mint sauce followed by puddings, and fresh fruit was not on the menu.

Since the Jamie Oliver effect kicked in there is a lot more salad, fruit and fresh greens.
