NEARLY £25,000 has been given to a group to resurface and re-fence the tennis courts at Darton Park.
The Friends of Darton Park has been awarded the money from the Community Green Space fund.
Coun Linda Burgess said: “It’s the first new money for many years to improve Darton Park for young people and residents.
“My hope is that this is just a starting point. I shall be helping the friends to submit more bids to improve the rest of the park.”
Anybody wishing to be involved can go to the group’s next meeting at the Rose and Crown pub in Darton on Wednesday July 26 at 6.30pm. Members will elect a chairman, treasurer and secretary, as well as look at their next application and the possibility of having a skateboard park.
