THURNSCOE kids are to spend four days canoeing to raise money to keep the youth club going.
Fourteen, aged between 12 and 16, and five adults, will be heading for Wales today to set up camp. They will make their way down the River Severn and on Tuesday will finish at Worcester race course. The first two days will be 28 mile stretches taking six or seven hours and the third day could be anything up to a ten hours over 34 miles. About 400 teams from across the country are taking part and Thurnscoe Youth Club is the only one representing South Yorkshire.
The kids are all being sponsored and some of the money will be spent on a trip to France and the rest used to fund the youth club which is due to become a limited company after government funding ran out.
