A series of events has been organised by the green team at Dearne valley College as members hold their second annual Earth week.
During this week there will be bike rides, local walks, stalls, a collection of blankets and food for a local dog rescue centre and recycling displays by Rotherham Council.
The council's transportation scheme is putting on a virtual bike ride as part of National Bike week which runs from June 14.
People will be encouraged to write or pledge their contribution to Earth Week onto a CD whether it be walking to work or litter picking and the pledges will be entered into a prize draw.
Paul Edwards, DVC estates manager, said: "Our Earth Week aims to reinforce and raise awareness of environmental issues which affects each of us. The estates team, working with the English Forestry Commission, has created a series of walks on its Manvers site which have been linked to existing RMBC footpaths. "Our efforts will hopefully encourage people to enjoy our walks, think ‘green’ and contribute to sustaining the environment we live in."
