TWO school friends have helped organise a charity fashion show in memory of their friend who died of cancer.

Andrew Buckingham, 17, and Brad Gaunt, 14, of Cawthorne have organised the show with the help of Clare Bottomley of fashion brand Moo Bags and Glad Rags in Birdwell.

It is being held to remember Al Dawson who died in November aged 16.

The local lads, who go to QUEGS in Wakefield, told the Chronicle Al had touched a lot of lives and was the type of person who lived life to the full and even continued to play rugby, his favourite sport, throughout his illness.

In a tribute to him they will be putting their best foot forward with other kids from the village as models for the show, along with Al's twin brother Pat Dawson, as part of efforts to raise awareness and money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Moo Bags and Glad Rags manager, Clare Bottomley, said she wanted to help the youngsters out after her son Brad told her about Al.

She added: "I was out walking one night with my son and he was telling me how brave Al was and that the school were having a fundraiser in his name.

"So it just got me thinking, and because we did a fashion show for charity last year I thought it would be fitting that this year's will raise money for the teenage cancer trust which helped Al through his final days."
