A PENSIONER who had to take in his granddaughter when her mum died says they are being forced to live in a cramped one bedroom bungalow despite several applications to the council to be moved.
Amy Louise Dodson, 17, moved in with granddad William Dodson, 68, in March when he became her guardian.
As soon as Amy moved in William says he got in touch with Berneslai Homes about their situation and they sent out forms for him to fill in so he could apply for a transfer to a bigger property.
William said: "My wife died two years ago and then my own daughter dies and everything is juts piling up and I am the wrong age. It is bringing the depression back to me but I have to stay strong for Amy and help her as much as I can."
Bob Cartwright, Berneslai Home spokesman, said there is a shortage of two bedroom flats and bungalows in the Dearne area. "All our vacancies are now advertised. I would encourage Mr Dodson to apply for any of the bungalows or flats that might meet his needs."
