TWO teenagers escaped unhurt when the car they were travelling in hit the kerb and flipped over on to its roof.

The accident happened on Westwood New Road, Tankersley, at about 8pm on Monday and a fire crew from Tankersley were called to turn the car back over.

The driver,18, and his 17 year-old passenger had managed to get out by themselves by the time the fire brigade arrived.

A spokesperson said: "They said the brakes locked, it bounced and hit the kerb. It was on its roof when we got there but they got out - they were lucky."
