A WIDE-LOAD lorry got stuck on the main road into Higham and residents were 'knocked up' in the early hours to move their cars so it could pass through.
Despite needing an escort service to guide it off the motorway, the driver of the lorry attempted to make its way down Higham Common Road.
Residents were furious to be woken by the driver of the escort vehicle who asked them to move the cars. The Chronicle understands it got stuck in several places and angry residents said they were amazed to witness 'the stupidity of a load that size using the road'.
As a result two speed restriction bollards had to be removed halfway down to create enough space so it could pass through the narrow-road speed inhibitors.
