MONCKTON Coking plant has set up a £50, 000 fund to help out local projects and community groups in Royston.

The firm is now setting up a committee of residents and workers which will meet on a regular basis to consider applications for funding.

Works director Iain Archibald said: "The company recogniseds that we have a responsibility to the communities in which we operate.

"The establishment of this fund will help to improve facilities, and we look forward to playing an increasingly active role in community life in Royston and the surrounding area.”
