A MAPPLEWELL lad has been accepted into a top ballet school despite being too young to join.

Samuel Bailey, of Pennine View, is only seven-years-old but has bagged himself a place at the Northern Ballet dance school in Leeds.

He was accepted into the prestigious school based on his potential to be a great dancer and because his sister Toni is on already on a course there.

Proud mum Joanne said: "It's through taking Toni that we found out about the new class for kids aged ten and over so we had a word with Samuel's dance teacher who said it would be a good idea to try and get him on it.

"We took him through and the adjudicator could see he is very experienced at dancing and said because his sister is already with them they would use a little discretion to allow him to start now even though he's two years too young."

The budding Billy Elliot has been dancing with the Wendy Charles School of Dance in Mapplewell since he was three-years-old and his dream is to play the role of Mr Mistoffelees in the musical 'Cats'.
