A KEXBOROUGH care home will be demolished and rebuilt 'bigger and better' if plans for a phased development are given the go-ahead.

Kexborough House on Churchfield Lane is a 22-bed care home privately run by husband and wife team Malcolm and Marita Matthews.

The couple have submitted a planning application to the council for the phased demolition of the building and a two-stage construction of a 60-bed care home in its place.

Malcolm said: "It will be bigger and more aesthetically pleasing but won't look out of place or have a greater impact visually for neighbouring properties because of the way it is being designed.
