EXTRA patrols are to be put on in Worsbrough to stop vandals setting fire to an old school building.
The Academy will be moving from the former White Cross school building to its new premises on Farm Road next month.
A school spokesman said: "We're hoping the demolition will be done as soon as possible, but while the school is empty, it is a huge arson risk."
Police Inspector Julie Mitchell told the area forum in Kendray there would be extra Safer Neighbourhood Team patrols. She said: "We have some overtime funding to make sure the vacated building is not set on fire."
It will be emptied during half-term week February 16 to 20 and pupils will attend the new school from February 26.
