A CONVICTED robber has been sent back to jail for the knife-point robbery of three elderly women at a beetle drive committed while he was on parole.

Dean Winrow, 30, burst into Thurgoland Village Hall on October 7 last year and stole three handbags containing hundreds of pounds.

He had been released from prison in April - two years before the end of a six-year sentence, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

Winrow denied the offences and had given a false alibi to police backed up by his girlfriend who, at one point, had been charged with perverting the course of justice. He changed his plea to guilty on three counts of robbery earlier in the week week.
