PLANS for Penistone Grammar School to be replaced with a new £30million super school have been submitted to Barnsley council.

Proposals have been put forward for the Advanced Learning Centre by planners Laing O'Rourke, the preferred bidders.

The company hopes to sign contracts next month and start work on the new building in May.

The school, that will take two years to complete, will be built stretching between the current main building and the A-level site at the bottom of Huddersfield Road to minimise disruption.
