FORMER NUM president Arthur Scargill has criticised Raleys by accusing them of owing the union £8million.

He had been called to the disciplinary tribunal investigating Raleys by the firm's barrister, but immediately went on the offensive.

Mr Scargill said he was "stunned" that Raleys made compensation claims for miners who weren't National Union of Mineworkers' members and failed to inform the union of that fact.

The tribunal continues. Read a full report of yesterday's evidence in this week's Town Edition.
