BARBARA Poisson’s Pennine Lavender farm in Hoylandswaine has experienced the best and worst of this month’s heat wave.

The number of visitors to her field has fallen slightly but the lavender she harvests has been lapping up the sunshine.

Barbara said: “The lavender loves this weather and the heat wave has been great in that respect.

“The problem is it has been so hot some people want to stay indoors.” Despite the weather Pennine Lavender is proving more popular with visitors each year but Barbara is not looking at expanding.

She added: “We want to contain and keep control over it.”

*Pennine Lavender is open to visitors on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday from 1-4pm until August 6. Parking available in the Lord Nelson pub next door.
