A MOTORIST smashed through a fence and two gardens in Higham after he hit a speed bump and lost control on a 'notorious' bend trying to avoid another car.

Anna Gregory, of Higham Common Road told of her shock when she looked out of her window last Thursday to see a red car in her neighbour's garden.

She said: "I heard a huge bang and a judder at about 7am. When I looked out of the window a red Peugeot car had smashed straight through my fence and garden and into the neighbour's garden.

"The driver said he was going down hill and a BMW car was coming up hill and he'd tried to avoid the car by going around a speed bump instead of over it.

"But because of other parked cars in the way he caught his wheel on the curb which caused him to lose control. Neither driver slowed down, though, which is a huge problem.

"Luckily, no one was hurt but what if my kids had been playing out in the front garden or if it had happened five minutes earlier when my husband was leaving for work? It would have been a completely different story."
