KEENAN Faulkner may be picking up the prizes because of his dance floor moves but his karate champion dad was not too impressed when he took up dancing.
But now dad Steve is as proud as punch because his lad is on the way to becoming Barnsley's own Billy Elliot.
Engineer Steve was a black belt and British champion and wanted Keenan, eight, to follow in his footsteps. But Shawlands pupil Keenan had other ideas and took up dance after watching his sister Olivia.
Mum Zoe, who works at the hospital, said: "Steve didn't accept it at first because he wanted him to do karate not dancing. But he went to watch him for the first time and he won his first medal so he's getting used to the idea.
"He loves his football but he dances five times a week."
Keenan was two-and-a-half when he started dancing and scored 90 out of 100 in a recent exam. Tutor Keri Archer said: "He's a natural talent."
