A BEDLINGTON Terrier proved every dog has its day when it scooped a top award at Crufts.

Five-year-old Rohan won best of breed at the NEC Birmingham in front of 160,000 people.

Owner Richard Scorah, of Millhouses Street, Hoyland, said he was delighted to take the top honours in his seventh appearance at the show.

“This is another big championship but it is extra special as this is the championship that’s recognised across the world," he said.

“It really is the ultimate and only one thing could be better — winning the Best-in-Show award." Rohan was one of 25,000 dogs presented by the Kennel Club at the show.

Richard, an ambulance driver in Barnsley, said he was already looking forward to next year's contest. “Despite the Bedlington being one of the lesser breeds we’ve come here and had an amazing day.

“It’s an honour to come here and I can’t wait to be back next year.”
