PLANS for the council to spend City Challenge recycled income in the Dearne include an environmental project for each of the three towns.
The new Dearne Area Board submitted three projects to the Dearne area forum for approval at the last meeting:
• A groundwork project to involve young people at Thurnsoce, £8,000;
• Lighting at Mansion Fields recreation ground, Bolton, £20,000;
• Improvements to the underpass between Lockwood Road, Goldthorpe and Phoenix Park, £26,000. They will include lighting, cleaning the area and roadworks to encourage more people to use it.
A reserve project, a games area at Goldthorpe, has been approved to take up any underspend which may be left over from the other three projects. However, all recommendations must be approved by the government office before cash can be released.
