A FARMER from Thurgoland has died after becoming trapped under a tractor.
Father-of-three, Simon Wood, of Eastfield Farm, is believed to have been carrying out repair works on a tractor inside a shed on his family's farm when the accident happened yesterday morning.
Firefighters and ambulance crews, who were called at around 11am, found Mr Wood under the tractor's hydraulic arm.
Mr Wood, 39, was freed by firefighters but pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Fire crews were called to a farm near Eastfield Lane at after reports that a man had become trapped under a tractor.
"Fire crews used air bags to lift the hydraulic arm in order for the casualty to be freed, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. "The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident and an investigation will be carried out."
