ARTHUR Tindall is one of the oldest football managers in Barnsley.
He is 72 and has been coaching Ardsley Athletico for about four years and this season the under 10s became the league and cup double winners for the second season running.
He can't wait for pre-season training and he new season to start.
Arthur, of South Place, Wombwell played for Wombwell Main in his younger years but only got involved with junior football about six years ago when he was managing Hoyland Falcons.
The former fireman and swimming instructor only intended to be a manager for a year or so. He jumped at the chance to help establish Ardsley Athletico's junior teams when he was asked. His grandson Lloyd Chapman plays for the team.
Arthur said: "We have got the makings of a good team but this year everything changes because it is bigger pitches. All of them are really well-mannered kids. I won't have any messing about and if they misbehave they get a warning.
"I don't know anybody daft enough to be doing this at this age but I enjoy it, it keeps me young. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't doing it."
