DETECTIVES investigating the alleged murder of a man found on his doorstep believe he had been there for days before being discovered.

Dad-of-four Geoff Hunt was found dead by a postman at lunchtime on Monday, August 3, outside his home on Malham Court. He had died of a head injury.

His death was not initially thought to be suspicious but events took a dramatic turn last week and a man was charged with murder.

Officers now think Mr Hunt, who lived with pet dog Max, may have died on the Thursday before the discovery of his body and are trying to establish what happened outside the Moulders Arms pub, where he is believed to have been playing cards, on that night.

They also want to hear from anybody who saw Geoff between Thursday, July 30, and the following Monday.

Acting Det Insp Stuart Hall said: "We know an incident happened outside the Moulders on the Thursday evening and what is also a fact is that Mr Hunt was discovered on Monday afternoon.

"We are trying to establish any possible movements between those two times. It is quite possible that he had been there since the Thursday."
