A BARNSLEY singer has made it through to the national finals of a UK talent competition.
Libbi Hibbert, 24, will represent the region at the Open Mic UK Grand Final in Manchester in December. More than 8,000 people entered the competition and Libbi will be up against regional winners from all over the UK.
She stormed her regional heat at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday where she took top spot after wowing a panel of judges singing an original song.
It was penned by a producer in Bristol with the help of her backing dancers and 43 strong team of supporters.
It was the first time Libbi has performed as a solo artist after local band Sweet Rebellion split.
She said: "After Sweet Rebellion I found it hard to say that is it; singing is my passion and what I have always done. I was quite nervous but it was exciting. I took 43 supporters who made so much noise and brought the house down.
"I wasn't sure I would make it through, there were a lot of good people there doing original music and playing guitar but I got a really good response from the audience.
"I am excited about the finals and getting all my supporters together."
Libbi hopes to perform a song she is going to co write and will do the choreography herself. The winner of Open Mic UK will walk away with a management and recording contract.
