A KEEN cyclist will ride from London to Paris to raise money in memory of his dad.
Mark Summerfield will attempt the 300-mile trip for Beating Bowel Cancer after his father Ralph died of the disease.
The 48-year-old of Hall Bank, Wilthorpe, has lost one-and-a-half stone since he started training in January.
"I think grinding up the hills in Barnsley and further afield will stand me in good stead for the four days of cycling," he said.
"It's something I have always wanted to do. I think it will be a challenge but something my dad would have been proud of.
"He was a very fit and active man so his diagnosis came as a shock to all the family. It wasn't until he died that I realised what a common disease it was.
"I've become determined to give what I can in the fight against it in memory of my father and to give some assistance to other families in the same situation." To sponsor Mark visit www.justgiving.com/MarkSummerfield.
