ABII Herbert already has the Face of Barnsley and now she’s got the feet to match.

The 16-year-old took gold with dance partner Connor Crowcroft, 17, at the a regional dancing competition on Sunday.

The duo, who have danced together for more than six years, were crowned north east Rock ’n’ Roll champions at the contest in Durham.

“It’s a tough competition so we’re really pleased to have won it again,” said Abii.
“It didn’t come as a total shock because it’s the fifth time we’ve won including the national championships. But it’s nice to be running champions and win it year after year.

“We do freestyle, street and slow dancing styles together but our favourite is rock and roll. It’s a lot of fun and probably what we’re best at dancing together.”

Abii, from Hemingfield, practises every Tuesday and Saturday with cousin Connor at Litestep Studios in Barnsley.

Connor, a performing arts student at Barnsley College, was also awarded the top honours for his freestyle dance.

“I’d love to get a job dancing on cruise ships when I’ve finished my college course,” he said.
