BOUTIQUE owner Rita Britton was told off for ‘looking ridiculous’ in her graduation gown as she collected an honorary award from the University Campus Barnsley.
Rita, who runs Pollyanna on Market Hill, was made an honorary doctor on Tuesday.
She said: “There is no bigger honour than being recognised by your home town. It was exquisitely enjoyable and has taken a lot to come down to earth.
“My three sons were there and two of their partners and my grandson who is four. He said to me, ‘you look ridiculous’ that does bring you back to earth.â€
