EMERGENCY work has been carried out at Worsbrough Mill.

Two cogs thought to date back to the 1600s were in need of new teeth.

So an expert 'millwright' firm was brought in to carve them one by one out of white hornbeam. The timber is used because it is hard wearing and produces its own natural oils which help protect the wood and lubricate the gear.

It took three weeks and about £4,000 and now the 350-year-old mill can continue producing its half-tonne of flour a day.
