SUE Shore thought this giant puffball in her horse’s field was a football.

The 39-year-old from Birdwell tried to kick it and on closer inspection realised it was a mushroom.

She said: “I was putting my horse, Whisper, away for the night when I spotted it in the field. I thought it was a football or a piece of polystyrene but when I picked it up I saw how big it was.

“It looked like a giant mushroom but not one I have seen before my mum and neighbours couldn’t believe it when I showed them. I weighed it and it was five pounds.”
