A DOMESTIC abuse charity on the brink of closing has been given a four-year lifeline in funding.

Pathways, on Peel Parade, Barnsley, has been awarded £433,000 from the National Lottery to help victims and those who commit domestic violence.

The charity had been forced to cut staff hours because of funding difficulties but is now hoping to employ two specialists for a new programme.

Project director Sue Stokes said it was the best Christmas present Pathways could receive.
