TURNOVER of Wombwell-based Acorn Brewery has risen by 23 per cent.
The brewery supplies more than 400 pubs in Yorkshire, the midlands, the north west and London. Clients include the Wetherspoon’s pub chain, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose. Asda sells Barnsley Bitter and Gorlovka Imperial Stout at several supermarkets in Yorkshire.
The brewery has invested in fermenting equipment, built a cold store for bottled beers and sales and fitted a software system.
Former chef David Hughes and his wife Judi established the brewery in 2003. It moved to Aldham industrial estate in 2007 and doubled production capacity to 100 barrels a week.
