ORGANISERS of the new Barnsley museum want people to make the most of the last chance to donate items of interest.

A history day is being held next month in The Civic and as well as entertainment and displays the museum is on the look out for exhibits.

Project manager John Tanner said he wanted people to seize the chance to 'make history'. "We are asking people not just to come down but to bring whatever they have - objects, film or documents or whatever else. Bring them and make history."

Singer Dave Cherry has donated some cinefilm clips and urged others to do the same. "It's good, it does really open the eyes and this museum is going to be top drawer."

Barnsley History Day will be held on Saturday, January 8. The town hall has been closed for a year to allow the construction of the museum, as well as other repairs, to go ahead.
