Barnsley RUFC first XV saw their run of three straight wins ended by promotion favourites Pocklington in Yorkshire League Two on Saturday.
The Shaw Laners went down 34-17 to the second-placed team who have now won 15 of their 16 games.
Barnsley were just 18-14 behind with 25 minutes to play but the hosts pulled away.
Andy Buckingham scored his second try in two weeks while Paddy Jensen kicked 12 points.
Despite a man of the match performance from prop Dale Hobson, Barnsley were outfought in the scrum and out-scored by three tries to one.
Andrew Appleyard was knocked unconscious and is expected to be out for around three weeks.
The Shaw Laners, who remained third despite the loss can get back to winning ways tomorrow. They host West Leeds, who are seven places below them and have won once in six games.
