With Stephen Foster struggling with a shin injury, Barnsley boss Mark Robins has moved into the loan market and signed Hull City defender Paul McShane.
The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international, comfortable at either right-back or in central defence, has joined the Reds for two months.
He will be in the squad for Saturday's trip to the south coast, to tackle Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
