A pensioner who stored hundreds of thousands of cigarettes beside Christmas decorations in her loft has failed to get her convictions overturned on appeal.

Noreen Turner, 65, of Hill Crest, Hoyland, hoarded a cache of drugs, illegal cash, and cigarettes at her home.

Police found 161g of amphetamine in her freezer, along with what she described as “snide” or “dodgy” cigarettes and £14,030 cash.

Turner claimed to know nothing about any of the illegal goods but she was one of five convicted at Doncaster Crown Court in July last year. She was sentenced to three months in jail, suspended for a year, after being convicted of possession of criminal property, conspiracy to convert criminal property and possession of amphetamine with intent to supply.
