Marlon Harewood made his Barnsley debut as a first half substitute against Norwich on Saturday, but the Oakwell men went down 2-0 to the high-flying Canaries.

The Chronicle had revealed that Robins had been chasing the Blackpool striker, and Harewood duly signed for the Reds on Saturday morning, on loan until May 8. He met his new team-mates not long before kick-off.

And he was brought on in the opening 45 minutes, when Bobby Hassell limped off with a calf strain and the Reds ere forced to reshuffle.

Barnsley were also dealt another body blow when skipper Jason Shackell was forced to come off after losing his front two teeth in an accidental collision.

And with the home outfit struggling to deal with their mounting midfield and defensive injury problems, a confident Norwich side strode to the three points, courtesy of two goals from Andrew Crofts. His second was a real peach, a left-foot volley on the turn that gave Luke Steele no chance.

Barnsley created little themselves, and most of the home crowd had vacated their seats and headed for home long before the final whistle.
