To score for England is great, but to net the winner against Scotland with a stunning volley is even more remarkable as Ashley Wakefield found out.

The 19-year-old from Worsbrough Bridge was playing for the England cerebral palsy development squad in an international tournament in Denmark. He set up the first goal and then netted the winner against Scotland to give his side the bronze medal in the third/fourth place play-off.

Cerebral palsy can be debilitating but it has not stopped Ashley pursuing his football dream. And now the former Barnsley Academy pupil hopes to win a place in the team which will compete at the Paralympics in London next year.

“I will keep working towards that goal and if it happens then great but if it doesn't I have plenty more things to aim for as I am only young."
