The general manager of Barnsley Black and Ethnic Minority Initiative has been suspended following a complaint.
Donovan Modest has not been in work since Friday following the allegations. Mr Modest, of Greenhill Avenue, Sheffield, told the Chronicle he could not comment on the matter but said he was a ‘man of integrity’.
BBEMI chairman Vladimer Sanadze said: “We received a complaint and are investigating. “We made the decision to suspend for a short period of time.”
He said BBEMI was taking advice from human resources specialists at the Voluntary Action Barnsley organisation. “Their advice is, at this stage, we are not disclosing the content of the complaint.”
Mr Sanadze added the allegation was ‘not necessarily’ serious but Mr Modest was suspended because of the potential conflict of interest between the manager and the investigation.
A board meeting was due to be held yesterday evening when the matter was going to be discussed. It was expected to approve an investigation panel.
