A LITTLE girl suffering from a life-threatening disease which prevents her watching her beloved Barnsley FC is dreaming of Disneyworld.

Joni Winter, nine, of Worsbrough Road, Blacker Hill, suffers with severe Aplastic Anemia — which destroys the body's ability to heal itself.

She cannot go out in crowds for fear of being knocked or catching an infection, and is a high cancer risk after being treated with aggressive chemotherapy. Only three in every million suffer from the disease.

But family friend Diane Baker, of Hemingfield, has vowed to raise money for a trip to Florida when Joni is stronger.

Mrs Baker, husband William and son Billy will run the Nottingham Robin Hood half-marathon on Sunday to raise funds. Shortcomings will be made up through jumble sales and other events, Mrs Baker said.

Joni’s mum, Helen, said: “We are over the moon, we cannot thank Diane enough.”
