A FATHER and daughter filmmaking duo from Bolton-upon-Dearne are celebrating this week following the successful first screening of their documentary ‘Laurel and Hardy’s Yorkshire Adventures’.
Dean and Rebecca Sills say they were treated like royalty at the UK Sons of the Desert Convention in Harrogate thanks to John Burton Jnr, John Burton, Mark Johnson from the Brats Tent in Sheffield and Dave Ballard and Andy Waterman from the County Hospital Tent in Bradford.
The film was screened on the opening night of the convention at the Cairn Hotel on May 2.
Dean said: “It’s the most nervous I have ever been at any film screening.
“We just didn’t know what to expect from a room full of diehard Laurel and Hardy fans.
“The feedback was lovely, Dave Ballard said we’d produced a lovely film with different angles and a good mix of contributors.”
Rebecca and Dean have now started submitting their first feature documentary into film festivals and so far the film has won two awards at the Mokkho International Film Festival and been selected in two other film festivals including Sweden Film Awards in Norrbotten.
The film will be released on DVD in October.
