IT WAS a proud week for Penistone Footpath Runners as two club members earned international honours.

Graihagh Turner has been selected to represent England at the Under 18 Mountain Running Cup, taking place in Slovakia on June 13 and 14.

Graihagh joins an elite team of eight athletes competing against Europe’s best in the mountainous terrain.

Dawn Broom will don the England vest once again next weekend at the England v Wales International Half Marathon.

This will mark Dawn’s sixth appearance for the England Masters, but her first over the half marathon distance.

At the May Leeds 5k, Barnsley AC’s Vicky Shaw set a new 5k PB by one second with a time of 19-28.

Helen Morgan ran her first proper 5k race, finishing in 20-03.

Barnsley AC’s Lesley Pickersgill took the over55 women’s prize at the NorthowRun Five. She finished the hilly five-mile race in 41-34.

Penistone’s James Mumford placed fifth overall and first over40 man with 29-42.

At the tenth anniversary of the Great Grimsby 10k, Barnsley AC’s Wayne Singleton’s time of 33-52 knocked 33 seconds off his PB as he finished as second over40 man and 11th overall.

Taylor Hughes took more than a minute off his PB with 37-23 while Lee Yoxall bettered his by six minutes to finish in 40-42.

Roy Hart took the over70 men’s trophy with 48-05.

Penistone’s Keith Gordon finished in 54-49 and took first place in the men’s over75 age category.

Barnsley Harrier Fiona Davis was first over50 woman and 199th overall in a time of 40-59.

Catherine Stone finished 1,157th with a time of 53-36.

In France, Penistone’s Richard Cottam claimed third place overall and was first over40 man at the La Foulée Octavellaise 11km race in Le Havre, Normandy.

Barnsley AC’s Kris Brown competed at The Brigg Bomber Standard Triathlon, finishing in an overall time of 2-40-13.

This comprised a 1.5k swim (36-31), 30k cycle (1-08-49) and a 9.8k run (54-52).

Barnsley AC’s Jack Quigley competed in the Hyrox Riga Doubles Mixed with his girlfriend Imogen Cale, finishing with an overall time of 1-21-52.

Penistone’s Simon Pike completed the latest challenge in his fund-raising efforts by finishing the Edinburgh Marathon in 3-41-58.

Three Penistone runners tackled the Bamford Sheepdog Trials Fell Race, with Hannah Shaw leading the trio home in 42-55, followed by Ash Howlett (43-37) and Oliver Found (47-08).

Penistone’s John Broom finished as second over55 man at the Framlingham Flyer Five-Mile in 32-26.
