A BOLD new take on the iconic musical Oliver Twist will be coming to Barnsley Civic next month.
Twisted! The Musical, an original production that picks up the story of Oliver Twist 15 years after the events of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, will be performed at the Civic from July 24 to 26 as part of a national theatre tour.
Directed and co-written by Kinsley-born Si Wall - whose previous credits include story editing for Channel 4’s Hollyoaks - the musical offers a modern continuation of Oliver’s journey as a young man striving to make a difference in a city still plagued by inequality and social injustice.
Si said: “We are thrilled to announce that Twisted! The Musical, a captivating sequel to Lionel Bart’s Oliver!, will be touring the UK in the summer of 2025.
“This production first debuted to standing ovations and critical acclaim in Northern Ireland before the pandemic, and we are excited to see it return.
“Anything Theatre Company is thrilled to bring this production to life with a commitment to storytelling and platforming excellence from artists all across the UK.”
