A twenty-year-old has opened his own fish and chip shop business on the edge of town, creating four jobs.

Felix Shields opened Henshall Street Fisheries, off Cemetery Road, after taking on a property in a poor state of repair. He renovated it himself with help from friends and family.

He was still working full time in another fish and chip shop until four days before he opened.

In an interview for this week's Chronicle Felix said: "It took eight or nine months of hard graft. The roof was falling in, it was just in a total state.

"I couldn't afford to give up work but I was down here every hour I could find.

"I make all my own batter, the potatoes come in still covered in muck. Everything's fresh, so I end up here about 90 hours a week but I am enjoying it."
