THE WORLD Duathlon Championships took place at Pontevedra in Spain with Barnsley AC’s Richard Copley and Sean Burke competing for Great Britain in the 40-44 age group.
The event was made up of a 10k run followed by a 39k cycle and a 5k run.
Sean finished fifth overall and second Brit with a time of 1-58-25. Richard was close behind in seventh with 2-02-58.
Barnsley Harrier Phil Tyas came 18th in 2-13-16.
Katie Roberts finished 12th in the female 40-44 age group sprint with 1-15.40.
She was the sixth British athlete and eighth fastest overall on the bike.
In the open 50-55 age group, David Thompson was sixth in 1-02.51, only 37 seconds behind the bronze medal winner.
Two Barnsley Harriers competed at Dearne Valley Triathlon with Jess Manley tenth overall and winning the women’s category in 1-30-06.
Club-mate Helen Andrews was sixth female finisher, crossing the line in 19th place with 1-43-33.
At the British Quadrathlon event at Manvers Lake, Harrier Amie Ledger came 32nd in 2-48-44.
The event involved a 800m swim, 15k cycle, 4k kayak leg and 5k run.
At the Wild Deer Sheffield Sprint Triathlon held at Rother Valley, Barnsley AC’s Kris Brown completed the 750m swim (19-40), 22k cycle (51-03) and 5k run (24-22) in an overall time of 1-39-50.
