BARNSLEY ran out 3-0 winners against Harrogate Town on Saturday afternoon.
First half goals from Jack Shepherd and David McGoldrick followed by a stunner from Vimal Yoganathan in the second were enough to give the Reds the win at the Exercise Stadium.
With just a fortnight until the start of the League One season, Conor Hourihane named a strong side for this friendly.
Jon Russell returned for the Reds for the first time this pre-season, while fans had the first chance to see new signing David McGoldrick in action.
Luca Connell did not travel with the squad due to injury, but did train at Oakwell on Saturday morning along with Josh Earl and Fabio Jalo.
The Reds controlled the early stages of the game and it was Jack Shepherd who gave Barnsley an early lead.
Nathanael Ogbeta's corner found the centre-half ten yards out and his header nestled into the back of the net.
Hourihane's side continued to pepper the Harrogate goal, with Adam Phillips first coming close from a free kick and then close range.
The League Two hosts came close to levelling the game in 20 minutes as Mason Bennett and Stephen Duke-McKenna combined but neither tested Murphy Cooper in the Reds' goal.
Tom Hill should have scored for Harrogate on 39 minutes following a mix-up between the Reds' defence, but his shot was skied over the bar, much to the relief of the Barnsley backline.
Despite the pressure, it was the Reds who doubled their lead before the break.
Davis Keillor-Dunn, who had been quiet up until this point, picked up the ball on the halfway line and sprinted forwards before eventually playing in McGoldrick.
He calmly chipped the ball over Mark Oxley in the host's net and in doing so scored his first goal in the red and white of Barnsley.
Summer signing Reyes Cleary came on at half time replacing Russell, with Phillips dropping back into the midfield.
After a host of substitutions for the Reds - including the introduction of youngsters Kieran Graham and Leo Farrell - the flow of the game started to break down.
Farrugia, who had been playing on the right wing, was replaced by young Farrell after clattering into the advertising boards in front of the Reds' faithful.
With nine minutes to go, DKD almost made it 3-0 but his effort was blocked well by Oxley who parried it out to Yoganathan whose effort was well-blocked by a Harrogate defender.
And it was that pair that combined to give the Reds a 3-0 lead.
DKD found Yoganathan 25 yards out who cut inside and curled the ball into back of the net.
