Barnsley have signed winger Caylan Vickers on loan for the season from Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old scored against the Reds for previous loan club Mansfield Town in Conor Hourihane’s first game in charge in March.
He netted twice in 19 games for the Stags with three assists.
Vickers had previously come through the Reading academy and played 22 first team games for them in 2023/24 before moving to Brighton in January of last year.
He is yet to make an appearance for the Seagulls.
Sporting director Mladen Sormaz said: “We’re really pleased to bring Caylan to Barnsley. He’s shown great promise at both youth and senior level in League One. Caylan’s profile aligns closely with our strategy of bringing in players with the necessary attributes to implement Conor’s style of play. This move benefits all parties, and we’re confident Caylan will have a real impact at Oakwell.”
Head Coach Conor Hourihane added, “Caylan is a player I’ve admired for some time. He’s direct, intelligent, on the ball, and brings a real spark in the final third. We’re looking to add youthful energy and creativity to our attack this season, and Caylan fits that profile perfectly. I’m looking forward to working with him and helping him take the next step in his development.”
Caylan Vickers added:“It’s really good to finally be here. Speaking to the head coach, he persuaded me with the way he wants to play and the way he wants to improve me.
“That was a big factor in me coming here and the size of the club as well. I want to come here and play."
