A florist from South Hiendley has won a silver gilt award at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Stephanie Tue, 18, of Hodroyd Farm, got the award for her arrangement designed to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

She added: "I wanted to use royal purples and keep it rich and the diamond shape was inspired by the Jubilee. I wanted something that represented that."

It was the first time Stephanie had attended the show, in the grounds of the Chelsea hospital, and mingled with stars including Sir Cliff Richard, Ringo Starr and Jerry Hall.

She entered through a the Young Florist of the Year competition, and was one of 16 who qualified in October with a design based on on the Olympic torch.

This year she will take part in the World Skills Competition where, if she is selected for the team, will compete in other competitions.
